Great album! Alongside Book of Dreams, it's Steve Miller's best.

Undeniably one of my favorite albums, although I recognize I am part of a very small minority. Yet I don't care. Fly Like An Eagle is equally psychedelic, bluesy, groovy and slick as rock can be. Steve Miller and crew have a kind of swagger about them that few can match.

Favourite: Fly Like an Eagle, Mercury Blues, Take the Money and Run, Serenade, The Window

Least Favourite (relatively): Dance Dance Dance, You Send Me

This album is such fun it is at times trippy, nostalgic and humourous. Lots of contrasting styles all delivered with great skill - never boring - must listen to it

In the early 70s after a car crash that broke Steve Miller's neck, he took a couple years off. He returned with the album "The Joker". The title track became a number-one single. Then Miller withdrew again.

The next three years are spent in his studio meticulously shaping his next LP . Building upon what he had started with his previous offering, Miller updated his sound considerably. Miller soars, creating his dynamic, trippy, space blues. Never overdone, Steve Miller’s guitar-work is excellent. Hook-laden songs, atmospheric production and whooshing synthesizers, "Fly Like An Eagle" is an uplifting album of excellent 70's pop rock.

This is Steve-O at his peak. Some great deep tracks here including Mercury Blues, Wild Mountain Honey and a revision of Sam Cooke's You Send Me that makes it all Steve's own.
