You can't deny the sheer brilliance of this record. I personally quite like the mythical narrative that Hemispheres/Cygnus stuff has but this isn't all that much worse for it, the end result is still a load of incredible, soaring riffs accompanied by hugely memorable singular tracks. This album is such a trip, you have to feel it to get it. You have to lie on your bed, close your eyes, plug in and just get lost in it. Rush has this uncanny ability to paint incredibly vivid settings to experience and live through, musically, all while not using any defined thematic. I just struggle to qualify and put words to how much this album moved and shaped me, and just how freakin incredible it is.

I kinda think even though there are some good tracks after 2112, it would be a better album without any of those.
Besides that, 2112 is absolutely fantastic.

This album is fearless! If you're searching for your first Rush album, get this one. Chances are you already heard 70% of Moving Pictures just by listening to the radio.

Great idea to have a rock opera. The music is a little bit too edgy though. Also it should be longer to be like a real opera. I much prefer the rock opera The Wall, which is longer and more focused on em emotions.

Passage to Bangkok is one of my all time favourite Rush tracks, this is a masterpiece album with no weak fillers. Have recently re purchased the vinyl edition as mint, it sounds superb. I love the way Geddy Lee assumes the parts of High Priest and innocent re-discoverer of music on side 1.
