Siouxsie is ultra-smart and talented, and you can't argue with success, but I always wanted her to have a better band. That up-the-neck Peter Hook-style bass of Steve Severin always sounds to me like a guitarist who's temping on bass but still wants to be up in the melody instead of down in the rhythm, and Budgie as a drummer is great I guess at that one thing he does. Not to compare styles or sounds, but Chrissie Hynde came out of that same Brit punk scene with a real band that could actually rock. No offense, like I say, she's fantastic, the songwriting is strong, and there's a lot of substance here, I just find their soundscape pale and limited.

This is very creative and cohesive release. My fav tracks are Cascade, Green Fingers and especially She’s A Carnival. They reach their peak on the next one.

For me this album has 4 or 5 stand out tracks - that make it one of my favourite albums. These are Cascade, Melt!, Painted Bird, Slowdive & Cocoon.

This was my favourite Siouxsie until she did Feast. That remains in the top spot for me.

A roller coaster ride through sound. There are a few dark moments, but the journey is an uplifting one which will send shivers down your spine. Best thrills include the majestic opener Cascade, the intense and haunting Obsession and the jazzy straightjacket strut of Cocoon. This is the Banshees at their creative peak.

some agreeable songs here. nothing earth-shaking, but quite animated and strange gothic-pop-rock.
