Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 18% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.9/100, a mean average of 72.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.2.

This album is a lot better than some give it credit for. Sure, it's less groundbreaking and dynamic than their previous 2 albums but it's choc-full of great, catchy tracks. It's a significantly better effort than Seeds which just hasn't gelled with me at all.

After their previous albums this one may feel underwhelming. However, if you give this one a try more and more then you will see this has plenty of great songs on it.

Always liked the album, but just noticed I had rated every single song with at least 4 stars on my itunes, which means I liked them a lot! Maybe if this came before Dear Science it would get more love than it does ...

This has its slips and falls but there are a lot of really good tracks, especially You, the single Will Do and the gorgeous Killer Crane. I also find Repetition amusing.

Very good. But as with every album this year, I find enough things wrong with it, so I don't exactly love it... Like that over the top falsetto at the end of Keep Your Heart or the repetition in Repetition... And a couple more songs that aren't that great... But when it's good it's good, Will Do and Caffeinated Consciousness are probably my favourites, and just in general I love the energy of it (and the occasional calmer moments when they arrive). Rhythm section is flawless.

Top 10 of the year for me

edit: it got better for me with each listen, esp. after seeing the 1 hour film (including music videos for each song) for this on youtube - the part with "You" at the end is just amazing and I think it is one of the reasons I find the song to be one of the highlights of the album now
Top 5 of the year now for me :)
