Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 69.3/100, a mean average of 68.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.8.

Wow! This is something I thought I'd never hear - An album and artist that recalls the magical mood and atmosphere of Kate Bush's first two Andrew Powell-produced albums. And from six years earlier, no less! Of course, she doesn't sound exactly like Kate vocally, but she's close. And the songs are all very good.
Hmm...was Kate aware of Véronique Sanson when she was writing/recording her early material? (Sanson was/is fairly well-known in her native France) Either way, no fan of The Kick Inside should let this one go unheard.

In France this album is a milestone , the titletrack was covered by many artists. It became a big hit in the version of Kiki Dee. Sanson was married to Stephen Stills a year later. Stills however didn't write the song or doesn't have anything to do with it.
