Very solid debut. Americana-vein, not sure I'd call it country or country rock-- there's some blue-eyed soul in there on songs like "Out of the Blue," which is the highlight.
I could listen to her sing the phrase "you can turn the damn think off" on "Loving Her" for eternity.

Katie Pruitt has produced a debut album that shows that she is a promising young voice in the country rock scene. Her music is wonderful with great melodies and arrangements. The big low point of the album is her lyricism, which comes across as shallow and unexplored on many of her songs. It's particularly a shame on her LGBT+ songs, where the songs would carry significantly more weight for me if the lyrics were deeper and more interesting. Still, her music is great and Expectations is one of the best singles so far this year. I'm excited to see what else she produces in the future.
