Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 68.3/100, a mean average of 64.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 66.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.1.

The first The Streets album in almost a decade does prove that Mike Skinner can still make a decent enough album, even if it far away from quality found in The Streets first few albums. Upon its release, the album had its marteking heavily based around the highly talented features which are to be found on almost every track of the album. Whilst it is admirable to see such a collection of great upcoming and respected artists among one album, some of these features, namely Tame Impala and Idles, do not seem to fit the music Skinner is aiming for on this album and therefore these such features come across as artists that Skinner simply admires and wants to work with instead of being artists that fit a particular song Skinner is going for. As a result some songs, especially earlier in the album, fall flat and feel shoehorned in.
It is largely the features of the 'lesser known' artists that bring out the best songs in the album, and these being found in the second half of the album means the albums second half is a much nicer listen than the first. Even when critiquing some of the features, at the end of the day it's a The Streets album and really shouldn't be taken all that seriously. And as usual on Skinners work the production qualities are the highlight, making some songs filled with Skinners autotune very enoyable in a jokey way.
Overall it's a decent listen if slightly dissappointing due to the quality of artists featured (6.8/10)

Best Tracks: I Know Something You Did, Phone Is Always In My Hand, Take Me As I Am
Worst Tracks: Call My Phone Thinking I'm Doing Nothing Better, You Can't Afford Me
