Never heard anything more fascinating in HipHop. To me in 1993 a dream of a HipHop that never came.

There's certainly no lack of variety on this album as the Fellowship attempt to twist hip-hop into new and interesting shapes, with varying degrees of success.
Inncercity Griots is perhaps, in a word, singular. Absolutely one of the titans of abstract hip hop from where I'm standing, Freestyle Fellowship combine the laid back, jazzy production of A Tribe Called Quest (along with a healthy dose of their penchant for "weird" lyrics) with a variety of unique, complex flows. It's difficult to put into words the atmosphere that the album oozes, so all-over-the-place it can be. Perhaps the best place to start is Inner City Boundaries, where the rapping is in constant creative oscillation between old school rapping, rhythmic scatting, and singing.
