Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.0/100, a mean average of 76.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.8.

Belo álbum, as vezes força um pouco, mas passa.
This is a beautiful and genius singer/songwriter record and I am stunned that it doesn't get huge amounts of praise. The song writing is brilliant and the vocal, from both vocalists, deliver the words perfectly and in such a delicate manner that makes the album feel so personal. The musicianship is incredible as well and the vast array of instruments on this record demonstrates how much there is to explore and keep coming back for. Nearly every track is phenomenal as well with the standouts for me being Delicate, The Blowers Daughter and Cannonball. There is a track that is quite weak in comparison to the others but it doesn't take you out of the record so isn't too bad. A special mention to the violin on this record as well which is so magnificently played throughout the whole album. Overall, this has quickly become one of my favourite albums and is worth a listen if you have never heard it before.
Moments of beauty on delicate and the strings on story of O are a highlight, simply lovely and innovative, ahead of many so called innovators
"O" is a surprisingly beautiful album.
Both this album and Damien Rice in general (including his underrated latest album) have been a grower for me. I would describe this album in three words: simple, delicate and passionate.
One of THE greatest singer-songwriter records of the 21st century. Damien Rice couples his great lyricism with passionate singing to make his debut a modern masterpiece.
A beautiful acoustic record in the vein of Nick Drake, O, is a stunning album full of great songs. Damien Rice's debut LP is the ultimate late night record, a perfect chill out album. There are some strong songs here in, cannonball, Amie, and the blower's daughter. Volcano, is another excellent cut. A great record which Rice has yet to match.
A combination of simplicity and beauty that cannot be met by most.
Very sad album, but powerful nonetheless.
Surprisingly good
