Paul & Paula were a college student duet formed in Texas by a radio station promotion. They became a duo in 1962, and went on to have a hit right out of the gates with the single "Hey Paula" a sappy love song about the trials and triumphs of courtship. They had quite a few hits along a similar vein for the next couple years - and K-Tel Records have compiled a dozen of them for your listening enjoyment here on this "Best Of" album. There non-threatening charm was a precursor to a hundred other duet pairings throughout the sixties, seventies and eighties (Think Kenny Rogers and Kim Carnes, or Kenny Rogers and Sheena Easton, or Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, etc.) If you can stomach the saccharine themes, you'll get a kick out of these relics of a more innocent time.
