The Komuso were priests of Zen Buddhism who wandered Japan in the 17th century. It was believed that by playing a certain style of Shakuhachi Flute music called Sui-Zen that illness and problems could be relieved by the priests. Ronnie Nyogetsu Seldin is a New Yorker who studied the Shakuhachi flute in Japan and learned the Sui-Zen repertoire and its healing properties and now brings forward this 17th century tradition to the 21st century. This album contains 9 (nine) Sui-Zen compositions of stark and mystical music, which have a meditative effect on the listener.
