This 2002 release on Fuel 2000 Records (Cat # 302 061 249 2) captures the legendary Blues man Son House's return to public performing after an exhaustive search by executive producer Dick Waterman to find him. House had disappeared from the public some 16 years earlier after the consecutive deaths of his Blues contemporaries Robert Johnson, Charley Patton, and Willie Brown. Disc One covers an April 15, 1965 return concert at Oberlin College in Ohio and features many personal recollections of House which he tells with gusto to a receptive audience interspersed with performances of many songs from his songbook ""Levee Camp Moan", "Death Letter", and "Preachin' The Blues." Disc 2 comes from a live concert at the Gas Light Cafe in New York City in 1965. Again House gives his best on songs like "Pony Blues," "Motherless Children," and "I Shall Not Be Moved." Muddy Waters once made a comment - "Son House was the greatest of all Blues guitarists." This double album is a testament to his status even in his later years.
