Unusual album from long-time sax-man Mars Williams and his band Liquid Soul (US). This disc served as the recorded debut of this group. Williams had been around playing with bands like The Waitresses, Psychedelic Furs and Power Station in the mid-80s but he assembled a more jazz/funk ensemble in this venture. The band really sets down some deep grooves, with ample bass and drums provided by Ricky Showalter and Dan Leali respectively. Trumpet/Flugle Horn is blown by Ron Haynes, while Frankie Hill plays keyboards and Tommy Klein the guitar. D.J. Jesse De La Pena provides the scratching and vocals.
Released on ARK 21 (Cat#: 72438 54573 2 6) this album gets under your skin. Strongly recommend.

A lot of hard work happens in the background to keep BEA running, and it's especially difficult to do this when we can't pay our hosting fees :(
