Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 9% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.1/100, a mean average of 74.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.5.

This is my first MB album and which I have listened to the most, back in 1973.
It has actually many good songs and melodies that are one of their easiest to remember.
Meh! Rating (70.00)
A great album overall, and a showcase for the increasing presence of Justin Hayward. All his tunes on this album are beyond stellar, as is Lodge's "I'm Just a Singer." Interestingly, the big hit "Isn't Life Strange" is the only song on the album I don't like.
This is a very bleak and quite depressing work, but instantly moving and with a lot of superb songs. This was the last album they produced in a long row which started with Days of future passed back in 67! Looking for New Horizons 6 years later with Octave? My opinion: This album was their peak level!
The Moody Blues generally don't do it for me. Maybe I need to be taking something when I listen to their music. But on Seventh Sojourn, they have ditched the poetry and many of the proginess and gone for more of a simple rock album. Every song is great but favourites are: Lost in a World, New Horizons, Isn't Life strange (long version) and Singer in a Rock n ROll Band.
