"Certified Lover Boy" is far too bloated. The lyrical themes of entertainment dominance, people not wanting you to succeed, and sad love are stretched thin across 21 tracks. This robs identity from the songs and creates a blur of mundaneness. Through this sea of meh, a few islands of terrible rise up. "Girls Want Girls" is a gross fetishy song were Drake tries to convince lesbians to have sex with him and digresses into creepy mumbling. "Get Along better" may be the most passive aggressive song I've ever heard. It's almost 4 minutes of whining about how this girl had defended herself in an argument and he is closer with her friends. Chipmunk soul is a surprisingly common on the album and it's just not used well. It's not very tight and the high pitch nature makes songs unintentionally hilarious. The best example of this is the 'I love yous" on "Champagne Poetry". A positive track is definitely "No Friends in the Industry". The beat has simmering synths and Drake raps with genuine confidence. Despite the larger negativity discussed, the majority album is just mediocre. With the right writing and track size, I think it could have been a okay album. Unfortunately, it's so poorly handled that it ends in the red.

I swear Drake has made like three albums that sound like this

This is easily Drake's worst album. It's just so goddamn boring; so boring in fact that DJ Akademiks, one of the biggest Drake fans in the world, FELL ASLEEP on stream while listening to the album. No I'm not making that up, it's THAT boring
