Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.3/100, a mean average of 69.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 10.7.

To me Barn is very much the equivalent of Colorado from a couple of years ago. They sound quite similar. Song of the Season is probably the standout track. Everything else is consistently decent. I do find They Might Be Lost a bit endearing just because of its simplicity. Its a solid album that is probably only worth listening to if you're already a fan.
I have to agree. I love Neil Young, an endlessly fascinating artist. And with Crazy Horse, a perfect match (even with Nils Lofgren instead of Frank Sampedro). But his last albums (let's say after "Storytone", which I found quite beautiful, in 2014) are decidedly underwhelming. Charming but underwhelming.
More of the same from Crazy Horse with Neil Young at the helm. While performed nicely, nothing really stands out lyrically or musically.
And congratulations to Neil's new US citizenship. Keep on rockin' in the free world!
