Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.6/100, a mean average of 76.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.1.

Another terrific collection of indie rock tunes from Spoon. A comfortable, well-produced, often soulful record that may not have more than a few moments of true excellence, but it's one of the most airtight records you'll hear this year.

Held is actually an alright opener from spoon, but it's still spoon, so it's painful to listen to the whole album. Spoon are like Coldplay but some people still think they're good. They can put out a fun song or two, but even those tracks expire after a few listens and just become annoying. Also makes for a good example of how The Guardian's music journalism sucks – pick up your game and stop writing music criticism for stay-at-home-dads.

Everyone’s favourite Texans prove there’s still groove in their old bones with yet another wonderfully eclectic release
Hard to imagine but Spoon are STILL criminally underrated. Let’s hope after 26 years of consistency this is the album thats give them their due recognition
This was my first foray into the world of Spoon and I was pleasantly surprised with what I heard :)
Spoon practically always delivers. There are some really thoughtful tracks here. I love the shout out to Austin Texas singer-songwriter Dale Watson in the title track.
Recommended.
Condensed to a 7" Single:
A-Side: The Hardest Cut
B-Side: The Devil & Mister Jones

Great album that shows that straight-forward rock music is still alive and kicking

Banda de uma consistência invejada!
