Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.1/100, a mean average of 77.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.4.

A very well produced and smooth record. Definitely an album that can easily be revisited and just enjoyed no matter what mood you are in. It has great songs on here as well which allow for deeper inspection into the music you hear. Overall it is a hugely accessible and great record.

Why does nobody tell us that the track Back to the Life is one of the greatest songs of all time. Another exemple?: ‘Tourist’ - Julian Casablancas.

Really cool sound; where Spoon figures it out and really runs with it. However, I still think they get more memorable after this.

This is an album I first listened to only retrospectively, after hearing Gimme Fiction and wondering what else they'd done. Normally I tend to fall in love with the first album I hear by an artist, but this one is an exception. I love the sound of this album: the simplicity of the beats, the cleanness of the production, the grooviness of the melodies. "The Way We Get By" is the highlight on an album filled with highlights.

I can't really get into early Spoon. Rating are high but I don't find them to be that good until they release Gimme Fiction and then from there they take off.

I guess its smart indie music. I just like later Spoon better

Gimme Fiction, Ga Ga Ga, and Transference is quite a run

Great album, very underrated on this site. Not even in the top 1000? Crazy

Great album, surprised it is so low in the rankings. It kind of slows down at the end but the first half holds up well, particulary "small stakes", "way we get by" and "jonathan fisk". Spoon is truly one of the most underrated bands ever.
