Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 67.2/100, a mean average of 66.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 66.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.3.

Jane's Addiction albums always seem to take a while to grow on me. This is no exception. It has gone up in my ratings recently though. It's a good length album, not to long. Love the bass lines on a lot of tracks. The front half does have the way better songs. Back half verging on filler

Very surprised this album and 2003's Strays don't get more recognition. It's a very good rock album with some great guitar riffs and no real weak tracks. My highlights are Twisted Tales, Curiosity Tales and I'll Hit You Back.

Found this album at a record store having never listened to it, assumed by the cover art it must’ve been earlish Jane’s post Ritual... so late 90s or 2000s... Wrong. This came out in 2011 or 2012?? Easily thought this sounded like classic Jane’s with a more pop sensible vocal style... wasn’t expecting it to be post 2010s... obviously it lost its funk flare without Eric Avery on bass but this album still rocks! Perry sounds great, Dave and Perk are on point, and even Duff McKagen makes a few appearances. Very underrated album. The fact this is barely in the top 500 OF ITS OWN YEAR is ludicrous. If you like Jane’s first few albums (87-90) you’ll probably like this... and I think it’ll grow even more

This album sounds like it could’ve come right out of Jane’s Addiction’s heyday. It’s a great album and as a Jane’s Addiction fan, it’s good to see them back to their old ways. Now it isn’t dead on exactly like an old album, but it’s about as close as you’re gonna get. It’s relatively the same, with a few oddities here and there. It’s a great album, definitely worth getting.
