This is a full blown pop album, so a big departure from their previous sound. But it's still unmistakably them and it's still good. I definitely prefer their other work and this is their worst album so far by a distance, but I still really enjoyed it. So many catchy tunes, 2001 being the best - a true summer anthem. Nice to see a band try something new and it work. You can't just play the same style your whole career.

As a personal preference I do favour the heavier side of Foals ala the ‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost’ albums from 2019 instead swapping out their guitar-driven structures for a lighter, electronica-driven sound here on ‘Life Is Yours’. The music is buoyant, sparkly, rhythmic and bright and clearly the band have taken anger management classes since we last heard from them
