The fact that in 1977, The Enid who were 6, could sound like an orchestra, is impressive. The album is quite a progressive affair moving from Orchestral arrangements to rockier sections with relative ease. The concept is intellectual as the music, based on both a Robert Browning poem and Louis MacNeice play. The different themes make their way into the narrative as parallel metaphors. All very high brow stuff!
