I discovered this album on Youtube one day when I was curious to see what Phoebe Summersquash, drummer for genius Rhode Island indie power pop trio Small Factory, was up to these days. I stumbled upon a song called Phoebe Summersquash by the already defunct Philadelphia band Scary Monster. I loved the song immediately and gave the rest of the album a listen. It had been YEARS since an album spoke to me so clearly. Even though the subject matter was often about loss and longing, I got the distinct feeling that this was a band having a absolute blast making music together, especially songwriter Neal Ramirez and female drummer (of course) Carly Marcoux. Along with a song referring to Small Factory, there are songs that mention The Zombies, Dave Grohl, Genuwine, several others that I haven't been able to figure out yet, and a song for the late great Daniel Johnston.
