Si prova quasi nostalgia per quando la sua chitarra toccata in quell'inconfondibile maniera era al servizio di pezzi che non erano suoi ma che in mano sua diventavano altro e rinascevano. Qui sotto i riflettori è soprattutto il rock'n'roll: in particolare il Chuck Berry di "13 question method" per sola acustica e voce e quella versione di "All shook up" che già fu un successo di Elvis ma che Cooder inizia con quello che è probabilmente il suo miglior attacco di sempre.
A great loose album by Cooder with some great guitar playing.
