I saw the Gourds live for the first time in 2008, and they put on a great show. It was a night that a hurricane was hitting Houston, so it was a windy night at Threadgills. And they took the opportunity to sing all their rain and water related songs, including "Raining in Port Arthur" off this one. My favorite was the cover of The Standells' "Dirty Water," in which they changed the words from "...Boston you're my home" to "...AUSTIN you're my home." The highlight of the evening for me for sure.
