Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Thanks doombringer. If you don’t already have temple of the dog, I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Soundgarden or Pearl jam. Brilliant album

Thanks for taking the time to visit the chart pedro. Temple of the dog is an outstanding album. I get the U2 “aversion” but it’s just the one album and they have a soft spot in my heart as I was listening to them from very early in their career when they would probably get a couple hundred people to a gig if they were lucky.
Hollywood Town Hall is a classic of Americana. Timeless.

great selection Johnny - Temple Of The Dog! Yesss! gets better every time I hear it... Few I'm not overly familiar with so will need to revisit Hollywood Town Hall and a few others - oh and too much U2 for my tastes Ha!

Another interesting, unique chart that has had me checking out outlier albums and finding a few gems (eg King L!). Wondering if Aztec Camera (Stray), The Beloved (Happiness), Richard Thompson (You Me Us?) were in the mix for your top 100 90's albums? Good to see Australian artists make the grade.
