The backing band for James Brown - The JBs - released a handful of albums without Brown as their frontman. This 1992 release on Gramavision (Cat#: R2 79485) finds Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley and Maceo Parker supported by guitarist Allan Jaffe, bassist Mark Helias and drummer Jim Payne for a funky night's performance at Club Gio in Japan. The horns are right on and the music is tight. As Brown himself used to say - "Whatever it is, it has got to be funky." Authenticated on discogs.com (https://www.discogs.com/artist/19579-JB-Horns)
