Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.3/100, a mean average of 77.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.8.

Still holds up, one of the best albums of this style.
Well, instrumentals are really good, but I just can't stand the vocals - they are horrible for me and remind me of nu-metal or post-grunge.
With out a doubt my most listened to album. Was a teen when it came out and I’ve not stopped listening to it. Hasn’t aged , in fact I’d say it’s timeless. Absolutely brilliant! Still pushing boundaries. I love it! Mixing genres like this is rarely seen. Awesome 👏
A great and very interesting album to listen too. The album is a lot more varied than their previous record and feels a lot more darker and like they know the atmosphere they are going for. There are a huge amount of amazing songs present as well such as Land Of Sunshine and Midlife Crisis which are probably the best for me. However, there are some poor tracks which do bring the album down a bit making it tough to give the album a really high score in my opinion.
Fav. Tracks:
- Land Of Sunshine
- Midlife Crisis
- Smaller And Smaller
- Everything's Ruined
- Malpractice
- A Small Victory
- Jizzlobber
I prefer The Real Thing, but this is probably a more varied album, and stays consistently in wresting to the end. I've always loved what they've done with Be Aggressive, and their cover of Easy... Tongue in cheek or not? Never worked it out.
One of the best album ever
Really good album.
Favorites: Midlife Crisis; Everything's Ruined; Jizzlobber.
Great choice for album of the day. One of the best albums of the 1990s from one of its best bands.
