Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.7/100, a mean average of 77.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.7.

epic, dramatic, boringic...
...and some pretty caucasian-sounding attempts at Hendrix-ian solos
This is Bowie having got his act together. Consistently good just lacking the classics later albums would have
Really great Bowie record
Obviously the title track is brilliant, one of his best. Width of a Circle is great too - 8 minutes long but it flies by. I like the Supermen too, but I find the rest of the album to be mediocre.
Impressive, but a little inconsistent. the first two tracks and title track are just amazing
Thx to Kurt, the title track is the best known song of the album and overall it is. Many people saw this as only the beginning of the David Bowie legacy but to me it is completely part of it. It is a very guitar based album and also Mick Ronson is showing here what he is capable of.
Bowie's most underrated album. Totally flopped when first released but don't let that put you off. More rock orientated than Space Oddity or Hunky Dory but a great collection of songs nonetheless.
Easily one of the heaviest sounding Bowie albums out there. Not my favorite material of his but some great songs in the tracklisting.
Best song(s): Black Country Rock; After All; Man Who Sold the World
He's not got there yet. This is Bowie channelling the early 70s hard Rock world, not altogether successfully. Black Country Rock is great, and the title track of course, but much passes you by. Next album David, that's the one.
A heavier sounding Bowie album than practically anything else he did. It is one of my favourite Bowie albums as it has an overall cohesive feel. Best tracks are All The Madmen, Black Country Rock , The Man Who Sold The World & After All.
