Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 82.3/100, a mean average of 82.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.0.

Quite possibly my favourite greatest hits collection. Excellent choices from the catalog plus great new songs.

For me Tom Petty is a great! Unfortunately, many of his albums contain a lot of average songs with some occasional masterpieces. So, if you can get all the very best songs without the filler, why wouldn’t you? That is what you get with this album. A must have!

Great from 'Don't Come Around Here No More' on.
The tracks before sound a little 'dad-rock' outdated :)

This is a near perfect compilation. It serves as a great introduction to the artist and has all his most popular songs. This was the first Tom Petty album I had and I've since become a big fan. If you are looking for a place to learn about Petty, this is the place to start.

Last Night by the Strokes had to be inspired by American Girl. Tom Petty is awesome.
