Savage Eye is a solid but uneven rock album that reflects a transitional period in the history of The Pretty Things. It has not become a classic of the genre, but it remains valuable to fans of the band due to:
Phil May's charismatic vocals;
igh-quality instrumental parts;
Norman Smith's production finds.
Rating: 7/10 - an album worth listening to for individual tracks, but does not claim a place in the pantheon of rock masterpieces.
