Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.5/100, a mean average of 69.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.1.

Not typical Billy!

Joel's worst album, Streetlife Serenade is mostly quite bland, but there are a couple of good tracks, 'The Weekend Song' and 'Last of the Big Time Spenders' are good, 'The Entertainer' and 'Root Bear Rag' are very good and 'Great Suburban Showdown' and 'Souvenir' are great.

About half the album is really good especially Streetlife Seranader, Los Angelenos, The Great Suburban Showdown, and The Entertainer.

This album can not convince me...
An underrated Billy joel album, and quite a difficult one to get hold of. I think the main reason it's not so well thought of is because it doesn't really have any, what you call, classics, or at least famous songs on it. Las Angelenos, is an often overlooked joel track, which I think is the best track on the album. The entertainer, is probably the most well known song here, Joel's anti-music business rant. It's really his L.A album, and possibly the reason why it's not highly thought of, as Joel is predominantly new York, through and through. It is probably the oddball in Billy Joel's career, but still well worth checking out.
Best Track: The Entertainer

Most likely Billy Joel's strongest album.
