Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.4/100, a mean average of 71.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 19.3.

This is a band that does not take life seriously and it can be heard in their music. A definitive AOR classic, lots of catchy stuff and lots of fun. A great memory From the happier times...
I love that this album is getting some love in the comments. I was 8 when this came out and I loved it. It was what I thought good music was. I could have done worse.
You've gotta love the A-side to this album - especially the 1-2 punch to start the record. This must be the group's definitive record & a cool glimpse back to 1983. Careful not to miss 'If This Is It' on the B-side.
Overall, fun and punchy, but a bit hard to sit through 'til the end. For those of the era, it's no doubt a keeper.
Great album!!!!!!!!!!!
A solid album with plenty of catchy, fun tracks. Probably the best Huey Lewis and the News release. Even the deep cuts probably would've worked as hit singles.
When Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
In the summer of 1983 you couldn't escape this album. Somewhat dated now, it is still a fun trip down memory lane. Most of the songs hold up today.
Light but fun and enjoyable. Nothing too serious (other than living on a thin line), but something you can toe tap to and smile along with.
So much fun! Lots of good memories with this one.
