Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 60.7/100, a mean average of 58.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 58.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.1.

It deserved better that the reception it got, that's for sure. I don't care for "Orchid Club", but everything else is good, and there are a few hidden gems such as "Dragonfly", "Danceway", and "War Child". Not as good as prior Blondie albums, but still pretty good.

I guess it's a good and sad record. It sounds tired quite often but I wish I would hear such vivid music today. I find their version of "The hunter gets captured by the game" the best I ever heard, the lyrics always were made to be sung from a more mature perspective, one that knows about the dephts and dangers of secudction and this is what Deborah Harry brings in this version.
I like this album, there's some great moments. I think the production bring down the songs and the concept. It sounds a bit force, and VERY early 80's, not like their prior work that still sound fresh. Not a weak album tho.
Btw, where's War CHild in the tracklist?
I really love all their albums prior (even Autoamerican which many find pretentious and difficult), but I never have been able to truly crack this album. There are moments of brilliance like War Child and English Boys but as a whole you can hear the band breaking up much like what happened less than six months after this album hit shelves.
