Oranger was a jangly-guitar power pop band from San Francisco, active during the 1997-2007 timeframe, also known as the "Things Aren't Really All That Orange Era." Later, things got waaaaay more orange than anyone wanted, and then the COVID pandemic came along. In 2021, their bass player, Matt Harris (who also played with the Posies) died, though apparently not of COVID. The other founding member, singe/guitarist Mike Drake, began recording these songs (many of which had already been written and demoed) soon after while still in lockdown, mostly without the rest of the group. He decided to release it under the name "Oranger" despite their non-participation, but strictly speaking this is really a Mike Drake album, not an Oranger album. That's not to say you shouldn't check it out, of course — you probably should, but let's face it, the last thing you need is someone like me telling you what to do.
