Can’t say i had heard at the time but listening now, It’s enjoyable but even though I like eclectic, this is a little too eclectic. When settles on the feel and sound, which seems to be relaxed folktronica styling, It’s nice. When it hits on some more straight up pop track It’s a bit Dido, which is nice enough but not so. And jarring.
Not up to the caliber of what was to come with 'Central Reservation' but still a decent outing from her. Starts & ends on the best tracks, all in between being nicely pleasant. She has one of the most beautiful voices. Lovely, just lovely.
Very mellow and easy on the ear. One of the best chill-out albums of the 90s. I really like her voice. Not super exciting but definitely a good album.
A beautiful fusion of acoustic folk and electronica make this a nineties classic. Trailer park, Beth Orton's lovely debut was perfect for the time and place, and features great tracks in, she cries your name, don't need a reason, and, whenever. Still her best album in my opinion.
Again, Beth's not giving us an album that knocks your socks off but she does provide just enough good songs that you wouldn't regret owning this. "Galaxy of Emptiness" is one of the best album closers I've ever heard.
