Not an overly fantastic year. Those at and near the top are great. All others average at best.
Compilations, greatest hits etc ranked after studio albums since it a year list. Only fair.

Tool - AEmina
Nick Cave - Death is not the End
Sublime - April 29, 1992 (Miami)
Screaming Trees - Gospel Plow
Tool - Hooker with a Penis
Sepultura - Born Stubborn
Eels - Novocaine for the Soul
Screaming Trees - Traveler
Beth Orton - She Cries Your Name
Luscious Jackson - Naked Eye
Johnny Cash - I've Been Everywhere

93.00 The interesting thing with this album is that there's nothing that's specifically unique or different than other albums from this genre. Nothing that really sets it apart in some original way.
Yet it's so fucking brilliant. The melody, vocals, song structure of every song on this makes it one of the best albums from this era. Outstanding and it deserves more recognition than it gets.

83.82 I've found a newfound love and appreciation for this recently. Thought it was good back when it came out but something's recently clicked with me on this. Perfect name for the band and album as it really is just Sublime. Complete original sound. New take on Ska but with added heavier groove overtones. Definitely much stronger in the front half but still a fucking great album overall. 02/23 [First added to this chart: 02/05/2023]

83.00 Great album. Epic stories envisioning horrific events. A true bard of the darker scale. His crooning is hypnotizing yet so gentle amid morbid tales. 'Death is not the end' is my personal pick of the bunch. His song writing and vocals make him one of a kind. Original brilliance. [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

82.66 Top class metal album. Heavy as fuck. Angry as fuck. But unlike most albums of this genre where the songs all seem to blend into each other, the tracks on this each have their distinct uniqueness and difference. Which is what makes it a cut above and deservedly placed as a classic. One of the better metal albums out there 03/22 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

79.58 Good Kiwi album. Alternative pop-rock classic that probably wont be known outside of NZ. Fantastic tracks right the way through. None that jump out but none that are crap either. Overall not bad at all. Deserves more recognition than it gets. 01/24 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

78.928* The second album from his set of Rick Rubin produced resurgence albums. Great thing with Johnny is he's consistent. You know what you're going to get. Great cover of 'Rusty Cage'. You could never top the original but he's gone a fucking fine job on making it his own and giving it his own flavor. This whole album is stacked with gold. Mr. Cash is a true legend. 05/26 [First added to this chart: 04/01/2025]

77.72 Not up to the caliber of what was to come with 'Central Reservation' but still a decent outing from her. Starts & ends on the best tracks, all in between being nicely pleasant. She has one of the most beautiful voices. Lovely, just lovely. 11/23 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]

76.750* The 3rd album from them, from when they were still in their golden period. The good thing about STP is back then they had a bit of variety within their songs and music. Which is what made them one of the up there bands of that era. This is alright. 12/25 [First added to this chart: 02/18/2025]

76.15 Never really knew about these guys down here in NZ even though they had UK success. Britrock that goes down both a psych avenue and a mystic guru road. Decent mix of some up tempo songs along with your eastern sounding transcendence tracks. After reading high accolades about them, bought this and had high expectations. Good but was hoping for better 06/24 [First added to this chart: 10/10/2023]

75.38 Interesting band Spiderbait. This is another of their albums that is stacked with variety. You got pop rock, sunny pop, folk rock, indie & heavy alt. Add to that both male and female vocals on different tracks and it's a smorgasbord. My 3rd fave from them. Very enjoyable. 10/22 [First added to this chart: 10/14/2020]
