Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 49.5/100, a mean average of 47.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 47.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 24.8.

Not horrible but forgettable. Payphone has a personal connection to me, and some songs are okay (The Man Who Never Lied and Beautiful Goodbye), but most is a filler platform for radio singles.

Maroon 5 is usually able to pull out a few standout tracks, but on this album, the standout tracks aren't too standout.

The Maroon 5 radio hit machine chugs along. Recognizing the growing popularity of rap, Maroon 5 does some features to stay on top of the charts.

The singles that make it big are catchy good like always. The album itself sucks like always.

Take Maroon 5 for what it is. Each album has 2 or 3 catchy good radio singles and the rest is trash

Really liked the first half of the album. But in the second half there are a few songs that ruins the album
