Hands down the best of all Placebo albums. The most consistent with the highest number of top quality songs with only a couple of tracks that fall into the filler category. Great rhythms, melodies and riffs. Surprising it's not rated higher within their cannon.
Don't know how this album is ranked so low in the overall chart. It's brilliant. The first 5 tracks are exceptional, but then there is a big drop-off for the rest of the tracks (except Special Needs). Probably drags down the rating for me. My highlights are The Bitter End (I remember as a 10-year-old hearing this on Top Of The Pops and being obsessed with it for weeks), This Picture, Special Needs and Bulletproof Cupid (one of my favourite instrumental tracks of all time). Centrefolds is the weakest track.

Excellent first part (in particular tracks 1,3,4,5), huge dip after that. Overall, 70/100.
I'm very impressed with this album. I knew two or three songs but I decided to listen to the whole album and I'll have to join the best ones. Listen all and you will be surprised. Best songs are 4 ... 9 ... 11
The first 5 songs are very impressive, especially 'bitter end', and later 'special needs'...... Wow
Without 'something rotten' and 'protect me' I would give it
A 95. My favorite placebo album, and that's saying a lot.

Favoritas: The Bitter End, This Picture, Special Needs, English Summer Rain
My favourite Placebo album a lot of it for personal reasons as the songs at the time the album released just grabbed me and I still listen to it and have recently bought the beautiful blue vinyl Special Edition! Geeky! The tracks are all different. Some punky, some more electro, some ballady and tender but the deep down Placebo sound is always there. I always think this album is when Placebo musically grew up.
