Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.4/100, a mean average of 72.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.3.

"Woodpile" is the clear stand out track , followed by "State Hospital" which contains the PEDESTRIAN VERSE line

There are a couple of tracks here that don't really work in "Nitrous Gas " and "Dead Now" , but rest assured the rest are really good

I personally prefer 'Winter of Mixed Drinks' but it really is splitting Scottish hairs

My favorite Frightened Rabbit album (with "Midnight Organ Fight" and "Painting Of A Panic Attack" close behind). Especially the first half of the album is really amazing. It's a bit catchier than their older albums.

There isn’t a whole lot to say about this album outside of the fact that it’s good, very good. It’s not as good as Frightened Rabbit’s previous album, “The Winter Of Mixed Drinks" but it is close. It’s a different direction for the band than their previous album, though not drastically different. The songs on this album were almost entirely written and practiced while the band was on tour and, according to lead singer Scott Hutchinson, it gave the songs a more “worn-in" feel rather than an edgy one. It’s certainly an interesting album and points to Frightened Rabbit going in a great direction. If they can keep up this level of production they’ve started between this album and their last, we’re in for some great albums to come.

Hi ross93, Check out the song 'Modern Leper'. That's perhaps the best thing I have heard from 'Frightened Rabbit'

It becomes obvious when some people rating the album haven't even listened to it. *cough* nfsporto *cough*, 5/100. Seriously.

Great album, first time listener to frightened rabbit and this is a wonderfully crafted album with some great songs.

Recommend: state hospital, the woodpile, oil slick.
