Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.7/100, a mean average of 69.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.3.

Another very solid album, an easy listen and no poor tracks but also lacking the standout tracks their first 5 albums had. My fvourite is Violins and Tambourines.

I was really surprised when I first heard this. After several albums where I thought they had got into a rut and maybe even lost interest they produced what I think is a collection of excellent and varied songs with many a bit different from their earlier work. Violins and Tambourines, In a Moment, Roll the Dice and the title track are probably the best examples. So although there is the odd weak track this is now my favourite Stereophonics album beating the benchmark set by Word Gets Around and Performance and Cocktails.

This band... they shouldn't be recording albums this good! Just when I had given up this band delivers a surprise party! 'We Share The Same Sun' and 'Graffiti On The Train' are up there with the best. If Stereophonics put out a new collection there will be at least 3 songs from this on it.
