Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 13% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.7/100, a mean average of 74.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.5.

Mikal puts out some pleasant indie pop with a little rockin' edge (see "shout it out"). Actually, there's a good amount of engaging guitar on here, and some nice fiddle too. A pleasant surprise in that it was not what i expected from a ty segall band member (although i'm only VAGUELY familiar with them).

Probably would be fine to listen to in warm weather with friends, but lacks anything that would give me a reason to put it on myself.

Just like his fellow friend Ty Segall, Mikal Cronin knows how to catch your hear at first listen. It might however get boring in the long run.

Back in the day this was called pure pop. Some of it sticks around forever and becomes legendary (Big Star), some of it gets mostly forgotten (Smithereens, Lemonheads). Where this will end up only history will tell. It's certainly nice, now.

Phenomenal album. Not a bad track on it.

Excellent album. Full of joy and perfect for the summer.
