Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 16% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.0/100, a mean average of 72.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

I find Goldfrapp albums very hit or miss. This is on the hit side, one of her better ones.

Best electroclash I've heard, please prove me wrong, because I've been looking for good elecrtoclash. Will Gregory's lo-fi and simplistic production that would be considered as amateuristic elsewhere, now is perfect in this atmosphere.

A surprising shift in genre for Goldfrapp who embrace the wonderful world of electroclash head first coming up with some innovative bangers along with more downtempo cuts. It's sexy and very cool.

Still a dreamy album, less so than Felt Mountain with more of an electro pop edge. I hear several Kate Bush influences on this album. The synth and electric drum work is excellent considering that it's one person.

I enjoyed her so much on the Orbital albums, but was so disappointed by this.

I do like the synthpop Goldfrapp and this was the first album I bought of theirs on release. I think an improvement on the first album, but their were better ones to come.

An impressive second album from British duo Goldfrapp who trade in their debut's atmospheric aura for more energetic synthpop, which they manage to pull off with ease. Whether uptempo or downtempo, the album remains sexy and stylish throughout. Even if it is slightly inferior to "Felt Mountain", it puts most electropop artists of the 00s to shame.

A decent album with some fine pop songs, but it just misses the mystique and atmosphere of the first album. Still, there's nothing wrong with the quality of music here, it's just I prefer the more interesting sounds of, felt mountain.

Sexy. Reminds me of Xanadu. Electro way before electro house got popular.
