Mary Chapin-Carpenter returned in 1996 with A Place in the World, her sixth studio album.
After the incredibly introspective Stones in the Road LP, Chapin-Carpenter returned with a wonderfully dynamic record that I can't believe was marketed to country music in the 1990s.
Let Me Into Your Heart sounds like Springsteen on the River and the old school soul production suits Chapin-Carpenter very nicely. This record is often seen as her lowest point in the 90s, but I disagree. This is a bona fide album by a bona fide artist, and perhaps one of her most accessible albums.
