A slightly harder sounding Joan Armatrading dominates this her first self produced album. There are no acoustic guitar led tracks but she wanted to get away from that "folk" label that had followed her since 1975. Russian Roulette, Jesse & Angel Man stand out from the rest Reach Out also deserves a listen.
