Two years earlier than the brillian Speak No Evil, this album shares many qualities and emotions that album does. There are maybe five albums by Wayne Shorter that should not be missed, and this is among those. I cannot state with any use how well he carries a tune forward, but he rolls incessantly on this album, with the exceptions of the blues pieces. When I want to do a plug of work around the house and want to lift my mood while doing so, I have most Shorter Blue Note albums the ipod, and the lineup never fails to deliver joy. He was a masterful emotion smith.
