Phenomenal album, and my favorite from Future Islands. Definitely a throwback and nod to 80s new wave, but its all still so catchy, innovative and crisp.
Favorite Tracks: Seasons, A Dream of You and Me, Doves
Great album! Certainly the best FI album to date. Not sure it lives up that balsy title, but I would say 4-5 of the songs hold up very well after repeated listening. (Edited)

Front-man Sam Herring combines Morrissey's swagger and Roland Gift's voice, and manages to do what so few synth-pop singers can: make me care about what he's singing. When the music is so heavy on synthesized sounds, the end result is often too light to take seriously. But his delivery is so engaging that I can't help but listen. (Edited)

This was my favorite album of 2014 and shows just how much Sam Herring and company has grown and mastered their craft over the last decade or so. "Spirit" and "Song for Our Grandfathers" are masterpieces in my opinion. Pitchfork's #1 song of the year, "Seasons.." is also a phenomenal track. Audacious, familial, and familiar-Singles is a truly magnificent album. (Edited)
These guys have a very simple and unique style to their sound. Definitely worth checking out.
Also Seasons (Waiting On You) is easily my favorite song of 2014 so that's a plus!

I think I'd really, really enjoy a live version of the album, but something about the album's production really bothers me. It's almost unfair to say really. The songwriting is solid.
