This is a great 2014 chart, so much so that I find myself craving more--I'd love to see which 17 albums you'd choose if you were to round out your top 100 at some point. Among the many selections here worth highlighting, the one I want to mention at the moment is Metamodern Sounds in Country Music. I've been listening to Sturgill Simpson's new album, Sound & Fury, a lot lately, and it is excellent. But Metamodern Sounds was his truly ground-breaking moment, the album that brought together the Nashville country sound (which I've always been a little leery of) with the alt-country that has been the core of my musical world for the past 30 years. Such a great record, one that keeps growing on me even five years after its release.
