Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by DrewHamster (2020)

My all time favorite albums! To help me keep it focused, I'm including only albums I own with a couple of exceptions. That said, recommendations are still welcome! If I like an album enough I'll buy it eventually :) I love music and my preferences change a lot so expect the order of the albums to be constantly switching around! Of course I have a preference toward certain genres of music over others, but who doesn't?

Currently, sporadically, adding my favorite tracks to each album. Also adding in the genres as well.

I'm going to attempt to also add a description for each, though I have found that a little tough to do especially with my top 10 changing so much.

Fall Out Boy in the Top 10? Blasphemous! Maybe, but I love this album to death. Folie à Deux was one of the first albums I owned and my love for it has only grown with time. Wonderful production, witty yet catchy lyricism and an amazing vocal track, make this album stand above others! Not to mention it contains the beautiful, and my personal favorite song of all time, What a Catch, Donnie. This is not your typical pop album, but it is my typical go to album no matter what the mood!

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a mean average rating of 72.0/100. The trimmed mean (excluding outliers) is 73.7/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 21.7.

A lot of albums of your adolescence I think. It's funny! I dont like Bring Me The Horizon, Disturbed and Fall Out Boy but I respect your opinion and I find it cool to assume his musical tastes. Kid A is Radiohead's Best and a very great album.

Over 1/4 of your selections (from only 4 artists!!!) are less than favorites of mine... With that being said, I liked a lot of your other choices (Radiohead, Brand New, Pink Floyd)

It is very interesting how you seem to understand and enjoy complex/detail-oriented music without getting bored by more simplistic/mainstream albums. After understanding Kid A, most straightforward guitar-rock albums left me uninspired.

the choices are great and interesting, no matter if someone agrees or not, but almost 10% of the chart "Fall Out Boy" its a real subject for positive criticism.

Lacks diversity and full with repetition. Maybe expand into more music before making a list? Otherwise it's good that you're being honest with yourself.
