Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 61.2/100, a mean average of 59.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 59.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 20.3.

Joe Perry should have quit this band and made something of himself.
There are some good tracks on this album but overall it is not great

Have you ever been at a wedding or a karaoke bar, where there's somebody who got some talent on the mike? At first, they sing away, keeping true to the tunes and amusing everyone present. Then one drink after another and their performance starts to suffer. They slur their words, switch between songs, forget the lyrics, lose their timing, and eventually their dignity as well. It end with them stumbling all over ranting about how wedding are for suckers and nobody loves them, and we all lower our eyes out of embarrassment for them. This is where Aerosmith is with this album. Luckily, they get their shit back together and restore some self-dignity. But this was a sad, sad, album. It's a testament to Aerosmith that it's actually listenable.
Sure, this was conceived during the absolute lowest point in the band's career, but it really kicks butt over most of their other albums. The one-two punch of "Jailbait/Lightning Strikes" is one of the best openings to any album ever. The way Lightning comes on you like a freight train barreling down the tracks will get anyone's adrenaline pumping!
