I've been a fan of Jenny Lewis since her days with Rilo Kiley. I appreciate the ways in which her songwriting has matured over the years, and the way the production of her albums has given her lyrics the added attention they deserve. On The Voyager, the moment where I hear this most clearly is in the heartbreaking "Just One of the Guys," her hard-hitting takedown of sexist pressures we--both society and ourselves--place on single women: "There's only one difference between you & me / When I look at myself all I can see / I'm just another Lady without a baby."

Cohesive album despite the multiple producer influences. This is her most poppy album yet with hooks peppered throughout, although she doesn't knock any song into "classic" territory.
I greatly prefer the parts of the album that sound closer to rock n' roll than country. But I think fans of Jenny Lewis should be satisfied with the content.
